Koch Membrane Systems (USA), has been selected to provide reverse osmosis (RO) equipment to the city of Waupun, Wisconsin, USA. The city chose two MegaMagnum® reverse osmosis systems from KMS to replace the current lime softening water treatment system that was constructed over 35 years ago.
Waupun Utilities provides water to the city, and its current water
treatment plant consists of lime softening, clarification, recarbonation, sand filtration, reservoir storage, and pumps.
The new state-of-the-art MegaMagnum system consists of two MM-6 RO trains which have a combined capacity of 2 MGD and require significantly less operator attention. Each MM-6 train has six, 300 psi ASME rated pressure vessels in a 4 x 2 array.
Each vessel contains five (5) MegaMagnum elements for a total of 30 elements per train. MegaMagnum reverse osmosis equipment requires considerably less floor space than equivalent systems using standard 8-inch pressure vessels and elements. The MegaMagnum RO system also eliminates the need to dispose of lime sludge, which is a costly and heavily regulated process.
