GreenWood Forest Park, sustainable tourist attraction and very special family adventure park in North Wales, has constructed four vertical flow Reedbed systems to act as a small-scale effluent treatment system to produce clean, clear waste water.

Totalling 200sq m, the Reedbed system is sited on an adjacent field to the Park. The waste water now flows in to a pre-treatment settlement and aeration tank system before slowly moving through the mass of reeds, which act as a biological filter bed with the micro-organisms living on the root system utilising the waste for growth nutrients. The end result is clean waste water that is returned to the natural ecosystem of the site.

The prominent message at GreenWood Forest Park is to highlight the importance of sustainability, energy saving and low impact on our environment, and the Park now joins the growing list of companies, including the larger Water Companies that have successfully installed a Reedbed system.
