The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a loan agreement with the Republic of Peru of up to US$ 60 million approx, (5.55 billion yen) for the North Lima Metropolitan Area Water Supply and Sewerage Optimisation Project.

The project will divide the North Lima Metropolitan Area into separate water supply sectors, each with its own water supply quantity, water pressure and chlorination. This is intended to ensure efficient management, operation and maintenance. In addition, the water supply and sewer network will be renovated to decrease the non-revenue water ratio, thereby increasing the efficiency of water use.

It is intended that the project will improve the quality of water services as well as sanitation for residents. The loan will be allocated for the renovation of the water supply network as well as for consulting services.
