EREMA and AIPMA launch recycling training centre in Mumbai

18 Mar, 2026

EREMA and the Arvind Mehta Technology & Entrepreneurship Centre (AMTEC), part of the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a new Recycling Skill Centre in Mumbai. The agreement, formalised on 5 February 2026, marks a significant step towards advancing practical training in plastic recycling and strengthening India’s circular economy.

The training centre, set to be operational at AMTEC by the end of May 2026, is designed to address the rising demand for skilled professionals in India’s plastics recycling sector—particularly operators and supervisors. At the heart of the initiative is a 72-hour training programme that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.

To support this effort, EREMA will provide an INTAREMA® 605 TE recycling machine, with a processing capacity of 50–100 kg per hour, at no cost. This will enable participants to train under real-world industrial conditions.

Strengthening skills through global collaboration

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Markus Huber-Lindinger, Managing Director of EREMA, emphasised the broader impact of the partnership: “We are proud to support this initiative, which sends a strong signal for the advancement of plastic recycling in India. Close collaboration between Europe and India is essential for building a sustainable future. Advanced technology delivers its full value only in the hands of well-trained professionals, and this centre will help equip the next generation with the skills they need.”

Arvind Mehta, Chairman of AMTEC and the AIPMA Governing Council, highlighted the importance of bridging education and industry: “This training centre addresses the long-standing gap between theory and practical application. Our collaboration with EREMA allows students, operators, and supervisors to gain direct experience with industrial equipment, raising the standard of technical expertise across India’s recycling sector.”

Building a workforce for the future

The programme curriculum has been developed by AMTEC with input from EREMA’s technical specialists. Graduates will gain comprehensive knowledge of operating and maintaining modern recycling systems, positioning them for employment opportunities within the plastics recycling industry—particularly in roles involving EREMA technology—or enabling them to advance in their current careers.

AMTEC will also play a key role in connecting trained professionals with job opportunities through its network of member companies and recycling partners.
