Multiple Air Pollution Control Orders for China Totalling $2.0 Million

Jun 10 2010

Fuel Tech, Inc. (USA) announce receipt of air pollution control contracts totaling $2.0 million.

Principal among these was the award of two ULTRA™ systems for two 660 MW units in a single power generation site in northwest China. The systems will provide ammonia reagent in support of large coal-fired electric generating units outfitted with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for nitrogen oxide (NOx) control. Equipment deliveries are scheduled for the third and fourth quarters of 2010.

Fuel Tech’s ULTRA process provides for the safe and cost-effective on-site conversion of urea to ammonia for use as a reagent in the selective catalytic reduction of NOx, eliminating the hazards associated with the transport, storage and handling of anhydrous or aqueous ammonia.

Additional orders include the following: a contract to install equipment previously ordered by a municipal power plant in the Midwestern U.S.; a CFD modeling and atomizing study in the Caribbean; and an SCR study at an industrial manufacturer.

John F. Norris Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “China remains a very active market for Fuel Tech’s ULTRA technology and we are pleased to be penetrating a new province within this large geography. In addition, this announcement represents the third ULTRA order associated with the plant’s utility owner, which operates a large fleet of coal-fired electric generating stations throughout China.”
