This downloadable case study explores how a working sewage treatment plant has been expanded into a modern environmental research and analytical laboratory, designed to support safe water recycling, drought resilience and reliable water quality control. Developed with laboratory equipment from Köttermann through Th. Geyer, the 465 m² facility brings together wastewater expertise, high-quality analytical equipment and a bright, workflow-led laboratory design.
For water companies, municipal authorities, laboratory managers and environmental monitoring professionals, the project offers a practical look at how laboratory infrastructure can support the next generation of water management. The facility is not only responsible for overseeing water quality at the sewage treatment plant; it also supports commissioned projects for industrial and private clients, creating a broader analytical hub around wastewater, purified water and environmental research.
The case study looks beyond the equipment alone. It shows how careful planning, close collaboration and intelligent laboratory furnishing can improve daily workflows, connect office and laboratory environments, provide safe storage for hazardous materials, and create flexible space for samples, measuring equipment and analysis.
