Popular Submersible Pump Range Extended

Jul 12 2015

Following the continued success of the Flygt N-pumps series of submersible pumps, Xylem (UK) has extended the range from 310kW to 680kW, providing new levels of solids handling on raw unscreened sewage.

What sets Flygt N-pumps apart is the patented impeller technology which is designed with a swept-back leading edge, to move rags and other materials to the relief groove, where they are transported away by the hardened vane edge.  This ensures that solids cannot build up within the impeller where they will reduce efficiency or cause a blockage.

The N3531 impeller and insert ring are available in a choice of either grey iron, Hard-Iron or duplex steel, depending on the needs of the customers. Grey iron is intended for general use such as normal wastewater, whereas the Hard Iron is designed for applications where high wear is expected, such as silt/grit laden media or sea water.

Furthermore, the range also features our own Flygt designed mechanical seals, which are produced to match the pumps perfectly. The compact design allows short shaft overhang, resulting in less shaft deflection and thereby improving the life of the seals. The innovative ‘Active’ seal also reduces seal leakage thus increasing mean time between service intervals. Motors are also insulated to class H rating, resulting in a longer stator life, particularly when operated alongside Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).

Andrew Barry, General Manager at Xylem Water Solutions said: “The N-pumps range has proven to be incredibly popular since its introduction, so much so, that our customers have requested this range extension - testament to its success across the water industry.

“We shouldn’t forget the vital role that pumps play in the treatment of wastewater and effluent, nor the potential effect on end-customers in the event of failure. A reliable and effective solution, hardy to the rigours of this tough environment, is essential and we believe the N-pumps range meets that need.”

To help alleviate any problems, the pump is also equipped with the Monitoring and Status system, protecting the pump while logging events. These logs can then be used for troubleshooting problems in the pumping station and provide the operator with up-to-date information on service requests.
