Waste is our Business, Let our Screens Save you Time and Money

Jun 02 2011

Saving time and money is at the core of every business, especially in these financially uncertain times, which is why WPL (UK) are announcing innovative changes to their MicroScreen drum filter cloths.

Following a review of maintenance on our effective and popular drum filter cloths, we have highlighted cost and time saving measures that will make the WPL MicroScreens even better.
This is why WPL has created the new ‘Clic-Clo MicroScreen’, a revolutionary one-size-fits-all solution to cloth maintenance activities. Built on a ‘click-in, click-out’ principle, these new MicroScreen cartridges can be replaced within minutes and all you need is a screwdriver. This has the distinct advantage of saving you lengthy periods of machine down-time, while simultaneously negating the need to keep large quantities of replacement screen material in different sizes.

So how does it all work? Well, quite simply, the cartridges are arranged in segments along the filter drum length, and the cloth is attached to each segment, rather than to the actual drum structure. The system can be provided with a range of interchangeable cloth cartridges from 20-100 microns and it is no longer necessary to change the cloth on the whole drum as each segment can be removed individually.

The segment can be replaced by simply ‘clicking’ it out from the drum, and a new segment can then easily be ‘clicked’ into place, without interference to the remaining cloth. This has the effect of increasing the lifespan of the filter cloths considerably, further enhanced by the absence of chemicals – usually required for cleaning/backwash operations in most other systems.

Used on Municipal Wastewater treatment plants as permanent or temporary additions to existing process units, the WPL ‘Clic-Clo’ MicroScreen is the perfect solution for tertiary treatment of effluent containing excess suspended solids. They are designed to receive pumped or gravity flows and the unique design of the drum filter maximises the surface area of the filtration cloth to achieve high removal efficiency with low operating costs. The filter cloths for the MicroScreen can now be provided as Polyamide or Stainless Steel cloth, and WPL supplies a “one-size” cartridge fits all model.
