All of these chemicals are being consumed in much larger numbers in China as it expands its coal-fired boiler capacity by 30,000 MW/year. The U.S. fleet is 300,000 MW. China is increasing its coal-fired boiler chemical purchases over the next five years by an amount equivalent to 50 percent of the entire U.S. purchases. By 2020 chemical purchases for coal-fired boilers in China will be 300 percent of the U.S. volume.
