Marmon Industrial Water has launched Graver Mobile Powdex® Condensate Polishing Trailers, a new generation of precoat filter demineralisers designed to offer flexibility in process water treatment. The mPowdex system is the first precoat filter demineraliser on wheels, which enables plants to reuse and recover steam condensate on an as-needed basis, delivering water, energy, and capital savings across various manufacturing sectors, including power generation, refining, and petrochemical applications.

Marmon Industrial Water's Director of Strategic Marketing & Innovation, John Yen, said that Graver mPowdex® Condensate Polishing Trailers are the solution to the critical need for efficient water treatment technologies that can be deployed quickly. This is due, in part, to aging infrastructure, capacity increases, and new environmental regulations. Yen added that Graver's name has been synonymous with condensate polishing for over half a century, and they are thrilled to continue sharing their expertise with the sector.

The mPowdex system is a precoat filter demineraliser that combines ion exchange and filtration to remove solid and dissolved particulates, such as iron and copper, from high-value process steam. This technology protects costly generation assets, such as turbines and deaerators, and maximizes plant uptime. Furthermore, condensate polishing using mPowdex has been shown to significantly reduce the frequency of required blowdowns, where large amounts of water, energy, and labor are lost.

Yen emphasised that at larger plants, a blowdown can equate to the loss of tens of thousands of gallons of condensate each time, which is a universal concern in a world where water is becoming scarcer. He added that the cost of water is steadily increasing, and effluent discharge regulations are tightening, but the industry can do more to address this challenge. Condensate recycling is a piece of the sustainability puzzle, and they hope the success of their first installation can help showcase its potential.

The first mPowdex unit is currently being installed at a power generation plant where it will help manage chemistry and protect downstream processes while reducing operational costs.
