Call from the Caribbean for Landia mixers to solve rectangular tank mixing challenge

08 Jan, 2026

Landia has won a significant order to supply low-energy mixers to the Tamboril Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the Dominican Republic, as part of a new government scheme to improve wastewater collection and treatment systems.

For challenging rectangular aeration tanks approximately 30m(L) x 25m(W) x 3.5m(H), the slow-speed Landia 9HP POP-I 180rpm mixers with stainless-steel propellers create gentle consistent flow-making.

Serving a population of around 38,000 people, the WWTP (treating municipal wastewater - and utilising tertiary treatment) is designed for influent flow rates of 0.629 m 3/sec and 0.085 m3/sec, respectively.

Landia’s experience in the Caribbean and Central America region also includes successful installations at a major food producer in Puerto Rico, and at a paper mill in El Salvador.
