Pure Energie selects Kraken to optimise wind, solar, and battery portfolio in the Netherlands

07 May, 2026

Dutch clean energy company Pure Energie has selected Kraken, the AI-powered energy operating system, to manage and optimise its growing portfolio of wind, solar, battery storage, and customer demand assets across the Netherlands.

The partnership marks a major step forward in digital energy management, enabling Pure Energie to operate all assets on a single intelligent platform. Kraken’s advanced system integrates grid-scale renewable generation with consumer demand, allowing real-time coordination and optimisation.

Smarter energy management across wind, solar, and storage

Kraken will enable Pure Energie to seamlessly coordinate electricity generation, storage, and consumption. By combining wind, solar, batteries, and customer demand into one platform, the system maximises renewable energy asset value, reduces imbalance costs through real-time optimisation, improves grid stability and efficiency, and enables more accurate energy trading and forecasting.

The rollout will begin with 20 sites onboarding in the first half of 2026, with further expansion planned as Pure Energie continues to scale its renewable energy operations.

Advanced trading, balancing, and grid optimisation

Kraken’s energy management system provides a comprehensive suite of capabilities, including retail balancing and demand optimisation, day-ahead curtailment strategies, intraday energy trading, imbalance optimisation, and access to ancillary service markets. It also includes advanced data analytics and alerting tools to support decision-making and operational efficiency.

The platform is fully integrated with Dutch transmission system operator TenneT, as well as Pure Energie’s existing infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient access to energy markets both in the Netherlands and internationally.

Addressing grid congestion and renewable energy growth

As renewable energy capacity continues to grow in the Netherlands, challenges such as grid congestion and price volatility are becoming more significant. Kraken’s intelligent coordination of supply and demand helps alleviate these pressures by optimising when and how energy is generated, stored, and consumed.

This approach supports grid stability while accelerating the energy transition by maximising the use of clean, renewable energy.

Industry leaders comment on the partnership

Bert Frowijn, Managing Director of Pure Energie, said:

“Partnering with Kraken significantly enhances the performance, reliability, and flexibility of our assets and those of third parties. It enables us to accelerate renewable energy integration within the Dutch energy system while providing certainty and intelligent optimisation. Combined with our deep trading expertise, Kraken’s proven capabilities give us a strong foundation to manage and optimise our entire portfolio across all energy markets—from forward trading to real-time dispatch.”

Charlotte Johnson, General Manager of Flexibility at Kraken, added:

“The transition to renewable energy requires a fundamentally different approach to energy management. It’s no longer about individual assets, but about orchestrating demand, wind, solar, and storage within one connected system. Pure Energie is a forward-thinking partner, and together we are unlocking the full value of their portfolio while supporting a more resilient and flexible grid.”
