MICRODYN-NADIR (Germany), one of the world`s leading independent membrane and filter module producers, now introduces the new submerged BIO-CEL®-Module for Membrane Bio Reactors (MBR) as a cassette system. This new design includes the membrane cassettes and the frame that holds them. With this innovation the installation and the maintenance of the module is much easier.
For the first time the aeration and the frame support are independent of the membrane unit. This is an important advantage, especially for larger plants, in that it makes exchanging portions of the membranes simple to perform. The BIO-CEL® modules have been available since the end of 2005 and are rapidly being implemented worldwide. The unique advantage of the new MICRODYN-NADIR MBR-module is the continuation of a open plate system to avoid braiding and sludge deposition and it is possible to back flush the module, maintaining high throughput.
The BIO-CEL® module BC 400 will be displayed for the first time at the IFAT fair in Munich.
This new flat sheet device which is a size unobtainable for all existing plate and frame systems enable MICRODYN-NADIR to deliver a new size of modules especially for larger systems. The membrane area of this device is 400m². With the packaging density comparable to hollow fiber modules, it is possible to incorporate large membrane surface
areas into smaller footprints.
