Maintenance projects present real opportunity for rental pumps

Jan 25 2012

Smaller, maintenance-led projects present a real opportunity for pump rental companies. None more so than Pump Supplies, the owner and operator of the largest hire fleet of electric submersible pumps and accessories in the UK.

Managing director, Andrew John states: “With their component manufacture and design, submersible pumps can operate at a high level of pumping efficiency using the latest technology N impellers developed by ITT Flygt and variable frequency drives which make pumping duties more flexible. Add to that the ability to use them in conventional wet-well, dry-well or transportable applications and connect to any incoming or outgoing pipework, it makes them truly versatile.”

As a leading provider of Flygt pumps, Pump Supplies offers a robust and reliable solution for temporary applications or emergencies and has the fleet range to place pumps or complete pumping systems on hire at short notice.

The team gets involved in anything from emergency or planned maintenance, flow diversion and sewer overpumping, to failed unit replacement or storm/nuisance water transfer, working for a range of water utility companies and civil contractors.

Access to the Flygt range of equipment also means that it can supply new product competitively. The company currently carries out new installations and refurbishment of pumping stations, plus maintenance contracts and will continue to develop this side of the business.

Barry Jones, director, comments: “Our key strength as a business is the sheer volume and range of pumps we hold across our depots - in excess of 2,000 units. We have a truly universal fleet which offers us the ability to share equipment across these locations, meaning that we can make swift decisions and provide technical support and resources quickly to any site in the UK or Ireland. We have also made significant investment in people, training our workforce to enable them to carry out complex installations safely and efficiently from initial design to commissioning.

“Our depots are linked by computer to show the location, status and availability of pumps, enabling us to say ‘yes’ to customer requests. We also work with the best - Flygt continues to invest in new technology and R&D to lead the way in its field and meet ever increasing customer demands for consistent performance over time and economy in all market sectors.

“We have the product range available to cover all eventualities - failures, breakdowns, a temporary fix – whatever the brand of pump.”
