Celebrating 75 Years of Landia Chopper Pumps: A win-win for biogas and waste management industries  

Landia is celebrating a remarkable milestone in its 75th year by securing a wave of new orders from the Biogas and Waste Management sectors for its acclaimed chopper pumps and mixers.

Originally invented by Landia in 1950, the latest sales of Landia's Chopper Pumps include installations at an expanding food waste AD plant in Northern Scotland, a textile processing facility, and a major landfill site.

For the AD/Biogas facility, Landia’s Chopper Pumps will be manufactured from stainless steel, ensuring long-lasting performance in the highly acidic environment of the plant.

The textile processor is also seeking pumps that offer the best possible total cost of ownership. As the industry strives for net-zero goals, more and more companies are turning to their waste streams as a potential feedstock for biogas production.

Howard Burton, Landia’s Technical Sales Engineer, shared:

“We’re seeing continued strong demand for our Landia Digester Mixing System, which incorporates our proven Chopper Pumps and the proprietary GasMix nozzle. There is also a significant need for our stand-alone Chopper Pumps, used across a wide range of biogas applications, including tanks, digesters, storage, and blending.”

He further added: “In the established fields of leachate and waste liquid storage, where Landia products are already widespread across the UK, the new orders include an 18.5kW POP-I Mixer and a DGER-I Chopper Pump. With our dedicated service team, it’s common to see Landia products last for over 20 years, even in the most demanding conditions.”
