Global Waste Team Support Policy Review by the Western Australian Government
Oct 19 2012
UK-based environmental firm, SLR Consulting, has recently carried out work on two waste and resource management projects on behalf of the Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation (WA DEC).
The first project involved preparing a review of landfill regulations and the application of landfill levies in 7 different jurisdictions across the world. The principal aim of the report was to provide the WA Government with an understanding of how the current regulatory and fiscal framework for landfills in WA compares with a number of other national and international jurisdictions.
The second project, led by Technical Director Climate Change, Arek Sinanian, involved looking at best practise in managing commercial and industrial (C & I) waste streams. SLR carried out a comprehensive review of the effectiveness of past and present C & I waste reduction and recycling programs across Australia, in order to identify best-practise for effective government-sponsored C & I waste reduction initiatives.
SLR Director Alban Forster, said: “The projects involved SLR consultants from the UK, America, South Africa and Australia and demonstrates how our global expertise provides clients with valuable insights from both a local and a big picture perspective.”
SLR Consulting recently expanded its environmental consultancy footprint in Australia with the acquisition of GSS Environmental (GSSE), an Australian provider of consultancy services to clients in the mining, minerals, land development and natural resources sectors.
