Exemplas Appoints Head of Environmental Consultancy to Spearhead Expansion of Environmental Services

Jun 08 2011

Exemplas (UK) is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Hoggart as Head of Environmental Consultancy. In this newly created position, Chris, formerly Director of Natural and Built Environment at MWH Global, will lead the growth of the Exemplas Environmental Consultancy services. Being part of the University of Hertfordshire Group of Companies, Exemplas offers a number of key strengths in delivering environmental solutions to businesses.

“ Chris brings a wealth of experience gained from 30 years working within the environmental and sustainability workplace ,” commented Hilary Oakley, Director of Training & Consultancy at Exemplas. “ His insight to these market areas will help us to build and develop our environmental services offering, generating new business and building relationships with key sector bodies .”

A chartered chemist, scientist and environmentalist, Chris has worked in over 30 countries – building a strong track record in assisting SMEs, blue chip companies and governments to reduce their carbon and environmental footprints. Chris’ particular specialism is in helping businesses reduce their costs and mitigate their risks through environmental management and auditing - a subject on which he lectures for the University of Bath and has written a book entitled ‘Environmental Auditing for the Non-specialist’. Chris is well-known in the environmental consultancy sector, largely through his work with industry representative bodies such as the Environmental Industries Commission, where he chairs the Water Management Group, CIWEM (Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management) where he sits on the Business and Science Professional Board, and the Environmental Sustainability KTN (Knowledge Transfer Network) where he is a board member.

“ My past experience in consultancy and training shows that the success of a consultancy business is dependent on its people ,” said Chris, “ I immediately saw that Exemplas understands this, with some innovative programmes in place to look after its employees and help them bring them through the ranks. This, combined with the company’s technical capabilities, reassures me that we’re well positioned to grow our Environmental Consultancy business. ”

Chris will immediately focus on putting into place systems to generate new business, particularly in the areas of carbon and energy management, water conservation and environmental risk reduction. He will do this by working more closely with existing clients and by using Exemplas’ unrivalled experience in the public arena to catalyse its expansion in the private sector.
