Atmos Consulting Team Grows Even Stronger with new Senior Appointment

Already identified by industry analysts as one of the SME specialist environmental consultancies to watch, Atmos Consulting (UK) has given its team another injection of expertise with the appointment of Dr Geeta Puri as a new Principal Consultant.

Dr Puri joins Atmos from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) where she was a Principal Specialist Scientist, and contributed to a number of best practice and guidance documents surrounding the use of peatlands.

“We are delighted to welcome Geeta to the Atmos team,” said Stewart Lowther, Managing Director at Atmos Consulting. “Her experience and knowledge of both the science and the ways in which advisory and statutory organisations work will help us to provide the best possible advice to clients.”

Before joining Atmos, Geeta spent over 15 years’ working in the statutory advisory sector, first as an advisor on environmental issues for the Scottish Government, commissioning research, supporting policy development and the provision of advice on land use, air quality and climate change, before moving to SEPA.  

Geeta commented: “I have gained a thorough understanding of the requirements of regulatory bodies and planning authorities, and look forward to using this experience, alongside the other experts in the company, to provide the best and most cost-effective advice to clients seeking to gain environmental consents.”

Alongside her work for SEPA, Geeta has had significant experience providing advice for developments on Scottish peatlands for the Scottish Government. Her work includes commissioning and managing the Carbon Calculator Research Project and facilitating its use for the SG Energy Consents Unit; and revising the Peat Landslide Hazard Risk Assessment and Site Surveys on Peatlands Guidance, as well as SEPA’s Waste Peat Management advice.
