Virotec Global Solutions Pty (Australia) is today pleased toannounce that it has entered into a cross-licensing agreement with Tasmanian waste treatment and innovation company Green Shadows Commercial Pty. The cross-licensing agreement allows each company to use the technology of the other in a variety of projects related to the treatment of acid mine drainage (“AMD”) at mine sites throughout Australia.

Virotec is therefore also pleased to announce that it has with Green Shadows Commercial successfully implemented an engineered solution to treat AMD using this combined know-how and technology at a large mine site in Tasmania during 2011-2012. While the details of this program will be the subject of a later press announcement, the cross-licensing agreemententered into this week represents the formalisation of Virotec’s year-long relationship with Green Shadows Commercial and also represents the start ofseveral new joint projects to be disclosed to the market at a later date.

“Virotec expects its mining business to continue to grow on the back of many successful dam wastewater and AMD leachate treatments. As the mine waste treatment industry expands due to greater emphasis on sustainable practices in mining as well as by improved economic conditions in the market, Virotec believes that these newer and more sophisticated approaches to treating AMD will become increasingly attractive to mining companies. The current and future projects which we implement incorporating ozofractionation and ViroMine reagents into a seamless, engineered solution to treat all forms of AMD are offering viable commercial and technical alternatives to practices which are now largely outdated,” according to Mr Blair.
