RIXONWAY KITCHENS ARE DEDICATED TO REDUCING THEIR IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

Social housing kitchen manufacturer Rixonway Kitchens (UK) acknowledge their environmental obligations and take their responsibilities very seriously. To meet the current environmental challenges, they have developed a variety of tools, policies and strategies to reduce their environmental impact.

Some 10 million tons of wood waste are produced each year in the UK, of which only 1.5 million tons are recycled. Rixonway salvages 100% of the wood waste from its production process and feeds it into a state of the art system that quickly and effectively grinds the raw material down and produces a fine, sawdust like residue which is then used to generate biomass fuel.

As members of a Weee compliance scheme Rixonway reuse, recycle and minimise the negative environmental aspects of disposing of electrical items.

Waste packaging has been reduced to a minimum and, in line with the Producer Responsibility Obligation (packaging waste) Regulation 2005, is recycled via a Nationwide Packaging Compliance Scheme.

Rixonway has developed a tailor made recycling service which incorporates units during the housing upgrade process and involves both local and national partners. This service fulfills all kitchen recycling requirements in terms of method and frequency of collection.

The CO² emissions that derive from Rixonway’s company vehicle fleet are also measured and offset.   All of the delivery vehicles used meet stringent Euro 4&5 standards for the control of CO² emissions.
